Little words make a big difference! Many little words, such
as a, to, we, up, this, on, and the are
"Sight Words." These are the words that appear most frequently in
print. Therefore, they are also known as "High Frequency Words."
These words control the flow and coherence of a story. But, learning Sight
Words can be tricky because most of them don't follow a decodable pattern.
That's where your help is needed. By reading and practicing these words with
your child, you will help them commit these key words to memory, setting the
stage for reading success.
The following list of Sight Words are the words that your
kindergartner will be expected to read, write, and spell by the end of our
kindergarten school year.
